Congratulations to Dame Vera Lynn, honoured today, who asked me a poignant question in what has turned out to be her last interview (so far …)

Congratulations to Dame Vera Lynn, honoured by the Queen today as her 100th birthday approaches. Here is the interview I did with her, which is now very likely to have been her last, given her great age. Incredibly, she asked: “When they write about the war, will they remember me?” Yes, they will. They do. They always will. She is among our last links to that extraordinary generation of men and women, whose sacrifice comes to mind as the European referendum approaches. I am proud to have to interviewed her like this, it was a privilege.
